Writing Prompt; Evangeline’s biggest regret

Evangeline had had many a trepidation when she was young. Some she certainly did not deserve, others were done by her hand. Some she would gladly take back, others she would leave be. One that she thought she would perhaps take the chance to alter would be the fact she had given her virginity to Ash Landers.

At the time the young Frenchwoman was in love, and she could have sworn the deep feeling was reciprocated. He eased the pain of her childhood and made her new life in London enjoyable. She thought that perhaps happiness had finally fallen into her lap. Overcome with the potential toxic emotion she could not help but surrender to Landers, giving him something that was most valuable about her body. The loss of purity was to be given to one you loved, and she was sure of this choice.

The first time Ash made love to Evangeline was a precious moment in her life, one she would swear she would never forget. Their second sexual encounter was even better considering there was no pain involved, but a great blessing. Grey found herself with child and the news was delighting. She thought he had felt the same, but it was a lie.

Roughly three months later Landers left without warning and without a sign of returning, leaving the pregnant teenager alone and distraught. It was not long after her lover left that she lost her child in a miscarriage, tossing her sanity over the edge. For months she locked herself away in her room, her mind more lost than her mother’s. The once stoic and sophisticated woman had lost everything that mattered. She wanted to die.

It wasn’t until nearly a year later did Evangeline slowly begin to stand again, gaining ground again and diving into a world she never knew. This part of her life she gladly accepted, though the reminder of how she gave her body to one who turned out to be unworthy remains in her mind.
